October 2012 thru February 2013

Eli is about to go number 2 and is starting to get completely undressed. "Eli," I ask, "can you please keep your clothes on?"
"No! I get sweaty!"
Finally an answer to the naked toilet visits!
February 2013

"Spiderman shoot webs," says Titus, projecting his arms in a stiff motion parallel to the ground with hand open and fingers spread.
And he says it all the time: on the toilet, at the dinner table, jumping on the trampoline. There really isn't a moment which "Spiderman shoot webs" is not appropriate.
Winter 2013

Titus is exhausted. He wonders from his room (where Matt is reading books) to me in the living room and asks, "Where's my blanky?"
"It's in your room," I say.
He heads for the room. Two minutes later he wonders from his room (where Matt is still reading books) and asks, "Where's my bed?"
"It's in your room," I say.
He heads for his room.
When the lights are turned out and we are about to shut the door, he yells, "Prayer!"
Matt laughs, "Dude, we just said it. Get some sleep."
February 2013

Eli's looking at his hands, spreads them wide, then says, "I grow bigger. I grow everyday. I get bigger than Isaac!"
February 2013

Matt is taking Isaac to school and Isaac is having a hard time with the seat belt. "Dad," he says frustratingly, "it's stuck, it won't move!"
"Isaac," says Matt, "it's already buckled up."
Isaac belly laughs, "Oh, it tricked me!"
February 2013

"Dad, I have poop in there," says Eli, patting his belly.
"Yes you do, Bud," Matt laughs.
Eli continues, "It comes out my bum!"
February 2013

"Eli, don't eat your boogers," I say.
Eli looks at me, "No, they food!"
February 2013

Isaac asks for some crackers to munch on, "Well," I say, "We need to save them for lunches and we are almost out."
"Okay," he sighs, "I think I'll deal with some cheerios in a bowl, then."
January 2013

Isaac's asking Matt about a certain character on a game. "He looks like this," and he strikes a pose: head bent, eyes forward and dumb, shoulders slumped, arms forward and limp. "Oh," laughs Matt, "Big Foot."
January 2013

"Eli, get some shoes on, boy," I say.
"No," he insists, "I not jump with my shoes, I jump with my toes."
January 2013

Matt is singing and playing on his guitar. Titus disappears to the play room, then come running back in with a little play microphone! He starts yelling into it and dancing!
January 2013

Titus's speak is starting to change, with longer sentences and such. Probably the cutest thing ever spoken by him is when he is pleasantly shocked by something, in his low voice he goes, "Oh my goodness!"
January 2013

When Eli goes number 2 on the potty he has to get naked. Completely naked. No exceptions. He also crawls up on the toilet with all fours, making turns like a dog trying to figure out how to sit down.
Spring 2012 thru Present

Eli hangs his head after failing to do a trick.
"Eli, are you embarrassed?" Matt asks.
"No!" yells Eli, "I Hulk-Man-Smash!"
January 2013

Isaac says, "I'm the biggest. Eli you are like bigger, but smaller too. But not very small, but not big too. And Titus is the smallest."
"No," says Eli, "Tiny [Titus] is tiny!"
January 2013

Eli looks at me with big eyes, and with a smile, says, "Mom, you're my son."
Winter 2012-13, about everyday

Quotes from the movie Nacho Libre, like:
"You crazy!"
"Get that corn out of my face!"
and, "Eagle Eggs!"
constantly fill our house.
December 2012

Aunt Ashley observes the 3 boys looking through Cousin Luke's matchbox cars.
"This one's my favorite," says Isaac, and he leaves the room with the car in hand.
"This one's me favorite," says Eli, and he leaves the room with the car in hand.
"Muah muh muah muah," says Titus, intimating is brother's sentences is mumbled speech. And he leaves the room with the car in hand.
December 2012

Our plans change for the day which we'll celebrate Christmas, making our Advent Calendar one day shorter. And Isaac can't believe it. "We miss counted?! Oh my gosh, I can't believe we miss counted! I'm so excited! Eli, did you know we miss counted?" The rest of the evening is passed in amazed and unbelievable wonder.
December 2012

Me and Matt are packing up a hotel room, and to keep the boys entertained I hand them large spiderman stickers.
After a load being dropped off outside, I return to the hotel room where there is lots of laughter and giggles.
Isaac tries to tell me through belly laughs, "Eli... He... Has.."
Eli finishes the sentence, by turning around, pulling his pants down, bending over, and showing me a large sideman sticker plastered on his bum-hole. "He's on my bum!"
November 2012

Every move, action, and reaction of Eli's is accompanied by a squishy sound.
Example:
"What do you need, Eli?"
He points to a cup, and lets out a wet, slobbery, cheeky noise. Every. Time.
Nov/Dec 2012

Eli's on my feet, and we're playing airplane. He spreads his arms out, "Airplane!" he says. Then he slaps his arms together, "Jet!"

I'm resting on the couch with my eyes closed. Titus come up to me, and I smell a stink. "Mom," I open my eyes, "Poop... Get outta here!"
November 2012

We're reading a snake book, and I point to one and call it a "viper."
"No," says Titus, "that's not a diaper, it a snake."
December 2012

We're walking through Savannah's streets at night, and I have Titus on my hip. I hear him squeak out, "Mom, they scare me."
"What do?" I ask.
Worried, he points the palm-trees with street lamp light pouring through, "They scare me... Spiderman Trees."
December 2012

Isaac and a friend are eating their lunch at a Chick-Fil-A. The friend gets excited and worried when a girl enters the play area, "There she is!" he exclaims and points.
Isaac looks at him, just a little worried, and says, "Girls turn into mommies."
Isaac and I look at each other and high-five.
November 2012

"Isaac, go to the bathroom!" I yell, trying to hurry us out the door for school.
"MOM, I CAN'T GO FAST!" He yells back.
Fall 2012

Eli loves to tell people about being "The Hulk Man Guy," and point out his green strong shoulders.
November 2012

Titus scribbles all over a paper, then picks up an orange crayon. In one corner he scribbles vigorously, then puts down the crayon, points to his work, and exclaims: "Basketball!"
Fall 2012

"Isaac," I say, "go pee before bed."
"Mom," he replies, "I can't. I don't feel it in my penis!"
November 2012

"Dad," says Eli, "watch this!" and squeezes out a big toot.
November 2012

When Titus is excited about an image in a book (while I'm reading), he'll point to it and click with his tongue until I verbally recognize it too.
Fall 2012

I ask Titus to say the blessing on the food. With out any help he softly whispers, "Heavenly Father, thanks for day," then yells: "AMEN!"
November 2012

Eli is a little weary of the pineapple chunks on his plate, but he sees his brothers--Titus in particular--scarfing them down. He takes a bite, smiles, and says, "I wike [like] them! Is like lemonade. Not hot!"
He had a bad experience tasting a raw lemon, which he called (well, cried) the sour taste "hot."
November 2012

I'm walking the boys in the stroller across a very busy intersection. When the crossing is about finished, Isaac says, "Wow, Mom, you did great! We didn't get hit at all!"
October 2012

When Eli isn't sure about a food item he puts his nose close to it, takes a loud sniff, and say, "Hmm... it smell like... " And he never finishes the sentence.
October 2012

I'm changing Titus' diaper, a poop diaper. I bring his legs up and he folds in such a way enabling him to see his privates.
He points to his privates and says, "Balls in there."
Me, "Oh yeah?"
Titus, worried, "I find them."
October 2012

Matt's getting Isaac out of tub, and asks Isaac to stand up.
Isaac stands, does a little dance, and sings: "Bow-chica-bow-bow. Penis!"
October 2012

Me, the boys, and my parents are on a walk.
"Mom," says Isaac, "I can skip!"
"Like this?" I ask, then skip down for about 10 feet.
"Wow, Mom, you almost got it! But it's actually like this," he says, then enthusiastically gallops down the side walk.
October 2012

The doctor asks Eli to walk to her to see if he walks straight. Eli's so excited that instead of walking to the doc, he hops! And with each hop towards the doc he says, "Boing! [hop] Boing! [hop] Boing! [hop]"
The doc laughs and says, "Oh, he's good enough."
October 2012

Me and the two little boys are walking up to the school to pick Isaac up. Eli's upset, being woken up from a nap too earlier for his liking. My hand is swinging down, and I feel Eli reach out to me, whimpering, "Mom... fingers..." *meaning he wants me to hold his hand.
October 2012

I'm taking Isaac to school a few hours later than normal because of a dentist appointment. As we drive up Isaac asks, "Mom, why are there still cars here?"
Me, "Because those are the teachers' cars. They have to drive to work."
Isaac, "Oh. So they don't live at the school? I thought they lived at the school."
October 2012

Titus is naked, trying to be potty trained, and we're at my parents' home on their front porch.
Me, "Titus, do you need to go potty?"
Titus, "Yeah!" and he sticks his privates between the iron bars and pees off the porch.

Summer 2012--Sept 2012

Eli starts to name the trees around the house and neighborhood. "Mommy tree, Daddy tree, Eli tree, Titus tree, Isaac tree. All friends!"
September 2012

It's time to blow Isaac's birthday candles out. Titus jumps the gun and does it for Isaac--twice. Titus was then moved to the other side of the table.

"Do earthbreaks happen in warm places or cold places?"

Titus responds, "No, I Tiny!"
September 2012

Matt is on his bike, and I'm pulling Isaac on the trailer bike. Matt begins to bump Isaac's back tire with his front tire. Isaac starts to peddle really fast, then starts to (pretend) throw anti-personnel weapons at Matt, yelling: "Grenade! [throw] Claymore! [throw] Flashbang! [throw]"
August 2012

Matt gives the boys his homemade mac-n-cheese.
Isaac says, "Dad you make pretty good mac-n-cheese, and Mom makes the best chocolate chip muffins in the whole world!"
September 2012

Titus is pretty determined to do everything for himself. This includes putting a new diaper on himself and buckling himself in his set belt. When he wants to do something by himself, he screams: "I HELP!!" (However when it comes to ice cream feeding, I can assist him.)
August 2012

Me and Eli are in a public restroom stall together. He uses the restroom, then I have to go. I try to hide myself, but he spots me, and asks: "Mom, you pee broke? You have bum?"

I say, "No... I'm not."
Isaac says, "What? Is that a lot of days, like this?" And he hold his hands out wide to indicate a distance/time length.
I say, "More or less like that."
As I leave the room, Isaac asks again, "Are you just kidding about that though?"
August 2012

I dunk Eli a bit under water, then some more, and finally push all the way to the bottom of the pool and bring him back up.
With water all over his face, and a huge smile, he shouts/grunts: "AWESOME!"

July 7, 2012

I serve some homemade mac-n-cheese. The boys eat it up! But Isaac remarks, "Wow, Mom, this is really good. But Dad makes it better."
July 7, 2012

Titus' singing sound more like a cat. Each note has it's own special "meow!" sound.
Summer 2012

Grammie (my mom) hoses down a smoldering fire, and huge smoke clouds form. Isaac exclaims, "Wow! That's like World War 2! That was a big war."

Isaac is looking at the pool and says, "I wish I could walk on water like Jesus... Hey! Did you know nijas can walk on water with special shoes?"
June 2012

I'm getting Eil ready for the night and it is time to brush his teeth. He tells me how I should do the brushing by saying: "Eee, Ahh, Ugh." So I brush his teeth, and we do an "eee," then an "ahh," and I think we are done. I take the toothbrush away and Eli says, "No! Ugh!" (meaning tounge, which I forgot to do).
June 2012
I'm getting the boys down for bed and tell them to pick out a song to sing after "I am a Child of God." Unanimously "Darth Vadar Song" is chosen.
June 2012

Isaac looks at my very hair legs and says in a very worried voice, "Mom, why are there splinters all over your legs?!"

January 2012 thru May 2012

Isaac and Eli are so impressed with Matt's ability to throw rocks far. Isaac says, "What the..." and Eli finishes, "... heck!"

May 2012

Isaac is a complete goof, with a big heart, and a very inquisitive mind. The end.

Spring 2012

Eli is screaming in the middle of the night for "Luke Skywalker!" I console him and help him find the small Stars Wars figure. As I leave I hear Titus mumble in his crib, while sound asleep, "Luke Skywalker..."

April 2012

Eli loves to laugh at silly words, especially ones that he makes up. The one that always brings a big belly laugh is "Basketball Pancakes!"

April/May 2012

Titus slames dunks a small football into a cup and yells, "Basketball football game!!"

April 2012

When Eli finishes a project, he proudly exclaims, "Ta-de-ta!"

Spring 2012

Titus has been naked for 10 minutes. I ask him, "Do you need to go pee?" He runs to the bathroom, but Eli beats him there. Titus then runs in the other direction, circles around, then pees on the carpet. He's very proud.

April 2012

Violence is starting to erupt in our home:

-Eli is waiting patiently by the stove for a drink. Titus comes up behind Eli, shoves him in the back, and Eli's face and chest slam into the stove front.

-Eli has a plastic sword, Titus has a plastic light saber. Matt tells Eli, "Don't hit him!" But Eli does, though it's a gentle tap on Titus' head. Titus takes vengeance, turns around and clobbers Eli in the head with the light saber.

March 2012

Isaac is obviously not feeling well. He's moaning in his carseat. Matt says, "You know Dude, we probably shouldn't swim today because you don't look so well."

Isaac pleads, "But I want too! I'm okay. I'm just tired, and cold, and have a little bit of a cough."

March 2012

Eli loves to play hide-n-seek. He counts and says, "1, 2, 16, 8, ready or not, here I come!"

Winter 2012

Me and the boys are driving in the van, and Eli is in one of his moods. During a break of screaming, I hear Isaac whisper, "It's not okay, okay?!" and not even a half second later Eli screams, "IT'S NOT OKAY, OKAY?!" In the mirror Isaac and I look at each other, and smile.

February 2012

Titus is unsure and jealous of his new cousin, Jaxson. Titus cries, and moans, and needs to be held whenever the little 3 month old is in the room.

February 2012

Titus occasionally likes to put this hand down the front of his diaper and just... walk around...

Winter 2012

When Eli says he has to "pee-potty" Titus runs to the bathroom too, in which Eli totally freaks out, and screams, "No! My pee-potty! Mine!"

February 2012

Isaac takes a bite of some homemade bread. He exclaims, "Oh wow! This is the best! This is good bread, Mom... bad guys don't like good bread, they like bad bread, right?"

February 2012

At bedtime I tuck Isaac into his covers. I say, "Have good dreams, okay? Maybe about Star Wars." And he says, "Yeah, and Nana and Mume too!"

February 2012

Me, Isaac, and Eli are in the van coming home from Isaac's pick up from preschool. Isaac wants to go to the Idaho Aquarium right now, but I say we can't because, "Eli doesn't have any pants on."

Isaac replies, "That's weird... and strange."

February 2012

Me and boys are in the van and I turn on some music. The cd comes on surprisingly loud, which makes us all jump! Isaac laughs, and says, "Wow, that scared me and made me jump and land on my car seat!"

February 2012

Eli is possible fully potty-trained! (Diaper at night still.)

First week of February 2012

When I hold Eli up to go pee on the toilet, he contracts his whole body to get a fiercer stream!

January 2012

It's after mine and Matt's week trip, and I have to boys for the first time to myself. Titus wants a drink, so I hand him water. He gets so upset with me that he starts pushing and kicking the garbage can down!

January 2012

Isaac has set up an obstacle course in the living room using sofa cushions. After one pretty daring jump (and totally sticking the landing), he exclaims, "Wow, that was kind of like Mud Tougher!"

January 2012

If Eli is enjoying a certain food, he does not take it away from his mouth. The cookie, or hotdog, or pear slice does not leave his mouth until all is consumed!

Winter 2011/2012

Titus is addicted to showers. If he hears some tub water, or even a mention of a shower, he starts to tug at his shirt and say, "shaow-ull!"

Winter 2012

Isaac asks all sorts of questions. All the time!

"Why do we die?"

"Why does everybody poop?"

"Why do we live on the Earth?"

"Why does a car need gas? How does the engine work? Why does the gas burn?"

It's a little overwhelming, but keeps us on our toes.

Winter 2012

Titus' favorite way to get bug his brothers is to sneak up to them, snatch the toy they are playing with, then turn and run like the Devil is chasing him.

Winter 2011

"It's not okay, okay?!" Is Eli's favorite line. Also "understand?!" is usually tagged along. But sounds more like this,

Me, "Eli, let's get some to eat."

Eli, "Is not o-tay, o-tay?! Un-her-san?!"

Fall 2011

It's been a long day. The boys are sitting at the table, yelling happily at each-other, while I'm making dinner. Isaac looks at me with big eyes and says, "Mom, I can hear the sound of the house!"

There I see Titus upright and happy holding the shower pull valve up so that a full shower was on, and Isaac and Eli afraid and crying in the far corner.
October 2011

Titus is running around the living room, naked, with a small plastic sheep in his hand. He puts it in my face, goes "Ahhhhh!" (for 'bah'), puts it up to his ear and says, "E-wow?" (for 'hello'), then runs around the living room saying "E-wow? E-wow?"

August 2, 2011

Titus is a full fledged walker.
mid July 2011

Titus is practicing walking, going back and forth between two persons. Eli decides he needs to practice too! He purposely takes wobbly steps and falls down on his bum. We all applaud his efforts.
mid July 2011

Isaac is using the restroom during the first hour of church. Grammie (my mom) goes to check on him. She asks if he is okay and he replies, "Yeah! I got a burning poop going on in here!"
